West African Permaculture Design Certification Course
Taught by Warren Brush of Quail Springs Permaculture
and Loren Luyendyk of Surfers Without Borders.

August 8th to the 21st, 2011 in Monrovia, Liberia at Ricks Institute

everyday gandhis, in partnership with Ricks Institute, Quailsprings Permaculture, and Surfers without Borders, will be hosting a two week intensive and transformative Permaculture Design Certification Course.

This course delves into all aspects of creating sustainable homes and settlements using integrated design to efficiently attain stable, diverse and resilient human living systems that are regenerative in nature.

Local and international students will work side by side learning how to design and apply ethics and principles that lead to stability and sustainability.

Participants in this unique course will acquire the skills and experience of an important design tool-kit applicable in their own community and in communities worldwide.

Contribute through participating while learning how to live sustainably or by donating to everyday gandhis’ scholarship fund to help local, low-income Liberian students

attend the course.

Course topics include:

• Productive home and large scale food production
• Food forestry, agroforestry, broad acre strategies
• Waste-to-nutrient cycling
• Soil building for sustainable fertility
• Water harvesting, storage and conservation strategies
• Simple greywater systems
• Designing with natural systems
• Appropriate technology including ecological building and energy efficiency
• Bio-regional organization and governance
• Various hands-on practicum

The course will be held from August 8th to the 21st, 2011 in Monrovia, Liberia at Ricks Institute.

The fee for an international student is $950 before May 8th, 2011, and $1,150 after that date.
For local low-income students, the fee is $250.

Tuition includes meals, accommodations and instruction; however it does not cover travel or transportation. Limited scholarships are available only to Liberian students in financial need.
